Rotator Cuff Tears in People Under 50 – Find Out More from Louisville Orthopedic Surgeon

Research by Lin and colleagues (2012) analyzed data on rotator cuff tears in people less than 50 years of age. The research found that most of the individuals experienced a medium to large rotator cuff tear following a specific traumatic event.

The size of the tears tended to be shorter in length than those in the total population.  Following surgery, outcomes for participants were favorable with many going back to their previous sports activities and employment.

Research findings conclude that early surgery in younger patients typically with an injury-induced rotator cuff tear yields a favorable outcome.  For the full report see: https://www.actaorthopaedica.be/acta/download/2012-5/05-Lin%20et%20al.pdf
